Museo Casa Kahlo is a Kahlo
family and Fundación initiative
that was preceded by 15 years of
painstaking archival
groundwork. Opened in
September 2025 in Coyoacán,
Mexico City, it was Frida’s family

generations, and donated by
her grandniece, Mara Romeo
Kahlo. It focuses on Frida’s
origin story and her private
family life, with personal
artifacts and works of art that
give guests an intimate window
into Frida & the women who
made her work in the world
possible.
Since opening, the museum
has already increased cultural
tourism in Mexico City,
generated $35M in media value,
and reached 1.48 billion people
worldwide. The museum serves
as a cultural and economic hub,
strengthening Mexico’s global
cultural identity, and was
recently named as one of Time
Out’s 26 Best New Things to Do
in the World, a member of J.P.
Morgan’s NextList for 2026 and
