“Fundación Kahlo was established along side my family to expand the
global understanding of Frida Kahlo’s legacy as one
of the most influential cultural figures in modern
history. In spite of her global recognition, Frida’s legacy has been subjected to
fragmentation, misrepresentation, and limited
access to true historical material. The
Fundación is uniquely positioned — through direct
family lineage and stewardship — to act as the credible, long-term guardian and amplifier of Frida’s legacy.“
Fundación Kahlo for Mexican Art and Culture is a New York based 501c3 established with the family of Frida Kahlo to preserve Frida Kahlo’s legacy. Its particular focus is to share Mexican arts, culture, community enrichment, and philanthropy with the world. We actively engage with the global arts community, supporting the continued rise of Mexican art - as reflected in the recent Sotheby’s Frida Kahlo art auction record of $54.7M. The United States continues to lead philathropic endeavors globally and is articulated by the Fundaciōn Kahlo’s base in New York City.
Fundaciōn Kahlo is administered by the Edward Charles Foundation.
